Al is a 25-year-old trans guy living in Brooklyn who wants to be a cartoonist. By day he’s an office assistant at a toothbrush startup. By night he’s filling sketchbooks with comics that never quite capture what he’s reaching for: the raw, funny, honest work of the underground queer cartoonists he loves.

When he lands a spot at a week-long intensive run by MEGAN WATTS, a celebrated trans artist he’s long admired, it feels like his shot. What he doesn’t expect is to find one of those cartoonists already there. MASON CASH is effortlessly everything Al isn’t, and he’s already charming Al’s best friend JESSE. Suddenly Al is competing with his creative idol for the person he might be in love with, and the only way through is to finally make the work he’s been too scared to make.

A raunchy trans rom-com told partly in animation, Something You Should Know About Me is a film about bad behavior, big feelings, and what it looks like when trans people get to be the messy, funny, lovesick heroes of their own story.
